Remember when back in the days, you didn't have to bankrupt yourself to get a premium racing helmet? Scorpion has been out of this segment for a little while, but really reinvented themselves with their Exo-1400 Air helmet last year. Now we can finally say that they are back in the premium racing segment with the successor of the Exo-2000 Air. Meet the Scorpion Exo-R1 Air! A lightweight TCT (Thermodynamical Composite Technology) fiber mix outer shell (in 3 shell sizes!) with aggressive styling and aerodynamics makes it clear that we're dealing with something serious. The fit is comparabile to the Exo-1400 Air and is a very neutral intermediate oval which will appeal to many riders. The interior is a comfortable place to be in, with a Kwikwick3® liner that is very soft to the touch and wicks moisture like nothing else. Following Scorpion tradition, the Exo-R1 Air is equipped with their Airfit system allowing you to inflate the cheek pads for a tailored fit. The cheek pads have an integrated neck roll with a kind of elastic material that will sit flushly against the jawbones and in the back of the neck to drastically reduce noise levels. As you may expect from a racing helmet in this category, the cheek pads are quickly removable in case of an emergency.

The so-called 2 dimensional visor is completely flat on the front and is prepared for tear-offs. That's one more box checked if you're after a full-on racing helmet! The visor is prepared to take a Pinlock MaxVision anti-fog lens as well and of course you will find one in the box. You will also find a free dark smoke visor in the box! Keeping your head cool is always a must when you're setting the pace on track and so the Exo-R1 has an intricate ventilation scheme. On the chin there is a large central vent, which is able to either direct air at the visor to prevent fogging, or aim it at your face to keep you from overheating. On the top of the helmet you will find a large central air intake. The hot air from inside the helmet can escape through a large central passive exhaust vent at the back and through 2 smaller exhaust vents. These last two are very efficient because they're placed underneath the large spoiler. As a finishing touch, the Exo-R1 has cut-outs for speakers should you wish to install a Bluetooth communication system.Please note: Helmets are sold with a transparent visor, unless mentioned otherwise.
