The head in particular is enormous, which takes up a third of the entire body. The lower jaw is remarkably narrow. The females are social animals: they can make friends for life. Sperm whales mainly eat squid, which often live at great depths. Sperm whales are therefore specialized in deep diving, to a record depth of 2800 meters. They therefore live in the ocean, but every now and then one strands on the coasts of the North Sea.
