Wild animals Ring-tailed lemur The ring-tailed lemurs belong to the so-called 'half-apes'. They are grey on top and lighter on the bottom and have a striking black and white ringed tail. They live in social groups of 5 to 25 animals, where a strict hierarchy prevails. The adult females are higher in rank than the males. Lemurs are closely related to the other lemurs in Madagascar.
